My object is a painting, made by my grandma. This is a painting of a house and it’s surrounding which symbolizes the place my grandma hopes our family lives in one day. My grandma is a talented artist and loves to do anything creative, especially art. This is only one of her many paintings that she has made. This exact painting used to live in her and my grandpa's house in California for over 30 years. However, one Christmas day, when my parents, my brother, and I flew to California for the holidays, they gifted the painting to us. My grandparents’ love language is giving us gifts, so although I have received several amazing items from them, this painting was by far one of my favorites. My grandma spent a huge amount of time on this piece of artwork so it made me feel very special when she told my family that it was ours now. Once we flew back to New York after the holidays, my mom decided to hang it up in our apartment. This painting has lived in so many different places and it has carried my family with me in every house it has lived in. It began at my grandparents’ house. Then, it traveled to my NYC apartment at the time and we brought it all the way to Chicago with us when we moved there for a short period of time. After we moved back to NYC, we hung it up in our current apartment and it now lives in my living room. Whenever I look up at this painting in my house, it reminds me of my grandparents which is why I cherish it, especially since I don’t see them very often.
