An Olla de Frijoles de Barro

The object I chose is a olla de frijoles de barro. This was given to my family and me by my great-grandma. I don’t know exactly when she gave it to us but my parents moved down from Texas early 2000s. So in the 2000s might’ve been when it was given to us. The olla de frijoles de barro is made of up clay and can be used when your making a big dinner with your friends and family. It is a medium to big size and has many different details and colors. I first learned about olla de frijoles when I was little. My mom used to have it in a cabinet with the other dishes she used to have. We don’t really use it that much anymore it's kinda there for decoration now. But we do use it sometimes. I connect with my object because it reminds me of where my family comes from and my heritage. I’m Mexican and this object reminds me of Mexican tradition and Mexican culture. An Olla de Frijoles de Barro is an authentic dish. And also the colors and designs that the olla de frijoles de barro really remind me of Mexican culture. I want the world to understand an Olla de Frijoles de Barro is very much a part of Mexican culture. It is used to cook and in most Mexican families, cooking is what connects them to their culture and to each other.
