Old Dresser
This old dresser had belonged to Theodore Dee Cuvelier, my Great Grandpa who we believe inherited it from his father Samuel Cuvelier who was French and Cherokee and Doris Cuvelier who is believed in the family to be from England. I don't know anything about her ancestry though to be sure. I don't know where or when he got the dresser, but it is believed to have been from France before his great grandparents left a few hundred years prior. My mother had updated some of the knobs but left the original chain handles. My family the Cuveliers had originally fled France sometime between 1680’s-90’s when the Catholic monarchy had pushed out the protestants. They had then arrived near Canada before travelling down the east coast, arriving in Georgia where I still have some family before moving to Oklahoma. Sam's parents would then leave Oklahoma and moved north towards Iowa. My mother was given this from my grandfather who had inherited it from his father Theodore Dee.
