Nuestra Virgen de Guadalupe
This virgen has been with us, for as long as I can remember. My mom was raised Catholic and has always prayed to the Virgin Mary. When my grandparents had my mom cross the border with someone they hired, she was terrified. She was 19 years old and prayed day and night to the Virgin Mary for everything to go well. She made a pact with la virgencita stating if everything went well she promise to visit her at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. Now it's a tradition of ours we do whenever we go to Mexico. On the second day of arriving in Mexico, we take her roses and visit her at the Basilica. There is not a day my mom doesn't give thanks and prays to the Virgin Mary, because she knows that she helped her migrate on her own to the United States.
