Flag

My artifact is a Norwegian flag. I use it to connect to my Norwegian heritage. It is mostly used by Norwegians. It was invented by a man named Fredrick Meltzer in 1821, but it was not flown until 1899. Until then Norway had a union with Sweden. The red, white, and blue on the flag represent liberty, and independence.           I chose the Norwegian flag as my artifact because I have a lot of Norwegian heritage on my dad’s side. This flag connects to my paternal Norwegian ancestors. It also teaches me about where I and my culture are from.
If my ancestors were still alive I would ask them what they thought of America when they first came to America, and what they think of America today. I would also ask them what they thought of future generations of their family. I would also ask them if they are glad that they came to the USA, and if so how do they think they, and future generations benefited from their immigration to America.
