Collard greens, black eyed peas, & ham with sometimes cornbread. This is a traditional New Years dish for black people in the South. It has been a tradition for many years. This tradition came to be after the Civil War.  The collard greens, black eyed peas, ham, cornbread represents collard greens is money, black eyed peas is coins, cornbread is gold, and ham just adds flavor.
