Necklace with "Best of" pendant

My father was born on April 23rd, 1972, a time when musical influence in the United States Culture was at an all-time high. Bands such as Queen, Pink Floyd, and Lynyrd Skynyrd were icons in the 70s and 80s. Growing up in Long Island, my father was close to the music capital of the world New York City. It was here that he was able to see his favorite artists as a kid and eventually take my mom to concerts of their own to see and listen to their favorites such as the Red-Hot Chilli Peppers and U2. Then in 1999 they got married and started a family. And in 2006, my father much like many other Americans in this time, moved their families in seek of new economic opportunities, so, on to Maryland our family went. Listening to music every step of the way. It wasn’t long before my father began to introduce me to his favorites growing up, and soon enough they became my favorites. We created a playlist called “Best Of” and together we would listen to the music of his era. No matter what life changes that came our way music was the one constant, like many other families of that generation. I wear this necklace to honor his memory and continue to listen to the music of his generation, a generation that molded a great man through hardship, and of course, music.
