This is a picture of a 1961 pin of the National Honor Society. This pin was first given to my grandmother when she was inducted into the National Honor Society in 1961 by her parents. She was the first member of the family to be a part of the National Honor Society, so her parents had this made for her. Many years later, the pin was given to my mother when she was inducted. Finally, in the year 2016, over 50 years later, the pin was given to me when I was inducted into the National Honor Society at my middle school. The number 61 also shows the number 16, which was the year I was given the pin. Since the pin was passed down from generation to generation displays the importance of the values that the National Honor Society stands for and has passed down through my family. These values include scholarship, service, leadership, and character. This pin reminds me I am carrying on the tradition of these core values just as my mom and grandmother did. Also, it is just a general reminder of my mother and my grandmother whenever I wear it or look at it. It reminds me of all the lessons and teachers who taught me.
