My Grandma and Grandpa are both immigrants that immigrated to the U.S in 1975, a year later my dad was born. My grandma likes to go to Lao and Thailand every 1 or 2 years, so she brings a lot of things that represent our culture like an Xout Lao which is traditional Lao clothing for women. My grandma recently gave me 2 sets blue and a brownish-orange. They both included a shirt or also called "Phaa Sin" which is the skirt made out of handwoven silk and has patterns and colors with a decorated hem. Then the shirt also called "Suea Pat" which is a long sleeved shirt that is wrapped around the body that is buttonless top. Then the "Phaa Biang" which is basically a shawl-like garment that goes over one shoulder. This is important to me because it reminds me of my culture and who i am and apart of in this society.
