My Mom's Book
My mother got married two years after college. Her parents were poor and had nothing bigger or beautiful to give to my mom as a wedding gift, apart from a book that was important to my grandma. Since tradition demands that parents are to give their most precious gift to their children as a wedding gift. My grandmother gave a book that was precious, to my mom. Since the time my mom left her country until now when we moved to the United States from Zambia she has kept the book for 23 years and she has always cherished it. Some time back I went to my mom and asked my her why she kept that book for this long if she can buy another one since she is working, she said she sees my grandma in that book and the book has all her memories, fears and hope. However I still don’t know her future plans for this book but I hope she can give it to me when I am older and i will try my best to cherish it.
