I chose to do my grandpa’s spaghetti recipe because when I was younger I would go visit New Jersey on my mom’s side of the family and he was always in the kitchen making spaghetti. Although my grandpa and I may have lived in different places, we were very close. His birthday was two days after mine, so we would always go up to New Jersey and celebrate our birthdays together. Every year since I was little and went to visit my grandpa he would teach me how to make his “famous spaghetti”, as my family liked to call it. But, I started to grow up and stopped visiting as much, so he stopped making spaghetti, but he also stopped because he got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He passed away when I was 15 years old but ever since he passed, for my birthday, I'll go into the kitchen and make everyone his spaghetti. My grandpa never shared his recipe with anyone, but I was lucky enough to have got taught it.
