In the year of 2021, while the world was still recovering from Covid, I was starting fifth grade, same school, same person, different friends. In fact my friends that I had before Covid hit were all at different schools than me. I only knew a few people really, one of them being one of my current closest friends, True, we had known each other since the second grade and almost instantly our friendship grew. Then, a little while into fifth grade, I met Shepard, he was kind, funny, and generous. At first we just knew each other as mutuals because of True, then as time went on, we became friends. Going into sixth grade, I had lost everyone I was friends with, they had all ghosted me, the only two people who had stayed were True and Shep, from then on, we just kept getting closer and closer as friends. Now, in high school, they’re like my siblings. Shepard and I play music together and True and I are just in general friends. This year, we have a couple classes together as well as lunch. During those, we just talk, not about anything in particular, we just… talk. She's always been there for me and has been my longest friend. They both feel like my siblings at this point and if I had to leave for any reason I would do whatever I possibly could to take them with me or at the very least stay in touch with them.
