My dad’s Mexican 10 string guitar.
My dad’s Mexican 10 string guitar.

The object that I chose is my dad's guitar that is used when we go to Mexico for various traditions and celebrations that my family and I take part in. The guitar is a Mexican 10 string guitar called a "Bajo Quinto", it is made from maple wood and has metal strings. This guitar was given to my father by my grandfather who gave it to my dad as a gift because my dad wanted to learn. This object is used at birthdays to play songs and sing along with my family and that's how my family and I know about it. The songs that we play are in the genre of Mexican Nortena which is a very popular genre that is played by many Mexican artists. This guitar is very important to me because this guitar and seeing my dad play it is what made me want to start playing music and pursue it. My dad connects the family at every family gathering with his music and that guitar is what sparked it and what inspired me to learn to play and continue the traditions that have been placed upon my family and me and I will continue them and pass them down for many years to come.
