My Family's Candle

Hello, my name is Ines and my family comes from Mexico. One thing my family cares about is this special candle that came from Mexico. My Abuela gave this special candle to my mom . In case you didn’t know, Abuela means grandmother. The candle was used when there were bad spirits or when my family was in trouble in Mexico. The candle is becoming small because my Mama uses it a lot. My Abuela went to a church to bless the candle to protect us from bad spirits and pray. The candle was made with wax and it is red, white and golden. The red is on top and the white is in the middle, the golden color is a cross on top of the white part.
I chose the candle because it was really important to my Ma because it was taken to a church to be blessed and all the prayers my family sent from Mexico to the candle. The candle teaches me that praying on the candle can still be special. My parents immigrated to New York in 2008 because they needed money and also they sent some money to my grandparents and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
I have a question for my Ma, why was the candle sent to you and not someone else? I agree with my Ma, it is important to her and me because it reminds me of my Abuelo’s family over there.
