My Dad's Painting
We as our own unique people have come a long way to where it is we stand now. While everyone faces direct challenges we also face love and joy. Even though everyone's life is different, we are often in similar situations to at least one other individual. Whether this shared connection roots from a similar issue or success, this feeling of understanding is one of the most important factors to unity.
One of the most common factors between individuals is the love of family, which to me is important beyond words.
At ages 10-12 I had a little phase where I loved this grey cat, Pusheen. Looking back it's kind of embarrassing, but at the time I just thought it was the cutest thing. My dad saw my interest, via the small but dear collection of various items I had, and he made a painting for me. The painting I hang proudly in my bedroom now, it features the cat on the beach, wearing a pair of sunglasses, which is kind of silly but it meant a lot to me.
When I look at this painting, It's a reminder to me, my dad has always been there. Even though I'm not as crazy about cats anymore, I'll always value the painting and appreciate the love he's given my whole life.
The painting reflects the joys of childhood and love. I hope to see that in other American families, that each member is loved throughout their lives.
