My item of importance is the Egyptian tapestry that was given to me by mom grandma on my dad’s side of the family. It represents my family’s history because of how far away it came from. My dad’s ancestors were from Ireland and immigrated to texas (those were the Doherty’s I don’t know anything about my grandma’s family other than her name is Shropshire) during the famine, while my mom’s family came from Lithuania to Boston however I don’t know the reason why. I find my family’s story interesting because on my dad’s side were a bunch of powerful Irish families that came to America to escape the famine while my mom’s side was most likely poor Jewish villagers that left due to persecution, however, both were able to get a clean start in America and eventually meet with my parents’ marriage and subsequent kids
