mothers spaghetti recipe
My mother’s spaghetti recipe is very special to me due to the long amount of time it took her to perfect. My mother knew she was going to the states and wanted to keep some of her Filipino roots in the country so in 1999 she had the idea to make spaghetti and in 2000 she executed it. My mother had used a sweet spaghetti flavor due to her having many sweet foods in the country. She still eats Filipino foods from my grandmother and each time I am able to try them they all have sweet aspects. This had inspired her to make sweet spaghetti. My mother in 2001 when she moved towards the United States she still had not perfected the recipe. The main materials she had in the Philippines were unavailable for her in Illinois so she had to find more and improvise. The improvisation had brought new flavors she had never thought of in the recipe and had been created with american and Filipino inspirations. Now in the present day my mother has been making more recipes that my grandmother had created. She has gone to the Philippines twice after she came to the U.S and had shared it with many of my relatives. My mother is planning to go to the Philippines again and that recipe has brought many good times and is very meaningful for the entire family.
