Mole Negro

This tradition shows mole negro. This tradition comes from my grandmother. My grandmother showed the secret recipe of mole negro to my mother and my aunts. The mole negro is cooked on special occasions like birthdays. When my grandmother cooked, my whole family left the house because the spice made as cough.

For me, mole negro is important because in the USA there is not a lot of this food. Some Mexican restaurants make mole negro but it is not the same as my grandma made. The mole negro was the first food that my grandma learned to cook. One day my grandma tried to teach me how to cook it but I did not learn because I was several steps away and I was afraid of the fire with the oil.

The mole negro represents my identity because the ingredients are originally from of my country. When I immigrated with my sisters to the USA my mom took us to eat at a Chinese buffet. Everything was different the flavors and food. I miss the typical foods that my grandmother made.
