Molcajete/Mortar
The mortar and pestel was given to me by my mother 18 years ago shortly after I married my current husband. I was going to move out from their home and asked if I could have it as a momento. It was made by my great grandfather to be given to his wife on my father's side and was then given to my grandmother on my father's side. She then gave it to my mother, who I then asked if I could have it. It is something to hold onto to remind me of not only my mother, but my hometown as well, even after moving to Illinois. Family is still what's most important and dear to me.
