Mis Ojos
Mis Ojos
My parents came to the United States in the year 1998 but my family had been here for a much longer time. I talked with my mom and asked for a story or ritual that has been passed down from generation to generation. Unfortunately, there was no physical thing that we pass down. Instead of talking about something like that, I am going to be talking about the color of my eyes and my parents’ immigration story. I have Hazel eyes and I got them from my mom’s and dad’s eyes. My father has green/blue eyes and my mother has brown eyes. My eyes are a combination of my father and my mother's eyes. The outside rings of my eyes are green and towards the center they’re brown. My mother came with my uncles separately from when my father came. My mother came here and had my older sister. Then, three years later she had me. After many years, My mother got her citizenship and even got my step dad his citizenship. I am the only one in my family to have colored eyes, my sisters and mother don’t have colored eyes. All of my cousins from my dads side have colored eyes, including my grandparents, and uncles.
