I grew up in a Jewish household. We celebrate all Jewish holidays and follow many traditions that were brought down in my family. One representation of my family beliefs in my household is the Mezuzah. A Mezuzah is a scroll with a Jewish prayer written on it from the verses the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21). The scroll is placed in a case that you then put ¾ up in the doorway. You hang them up in each door of the house with the exception of the bathroom, closets, laundry rooms, etc.. The Mezuzah is up not to protect the household yet it is simply up as a reminder that we stay faithful to our Jewish beliefs. It stays up to show us our love, commitment and willingness to be apart of the jewish culture. I connect to it through comfort. Having it in my household it allows me to be comfortable in my surroundings. We will continue to hang them up throughout our house for the rest of our lives that way we will always stay true to our beliefs.
