Mexican Handmade Basket
This basket means a lot to me because it was handmade by my Grandma and less to consider a lot of important things were stored inside of it from money to food, but the object I remember the most is my childhood pictures. What I find most important of the basket is how far it has traveled from Mexico to the U.S. My mom told me that her mother came out of the house, sad, with a basket in her hands saying, “Take this on your adventure to remember the home you grew up in and always remember to keep it clean.” Later, my mother left her house just to have tried many times to cross the border, but she never gave up. Once, she tried for the last time and she was successful. Along the way, my mother met my Dad. During her trip, my mom added that while running, the basket almost fell out of her pack bag just to be abounded in the desert. As time passed, she was already established in the US. She received another gift from my Grandma with a note that said, “remember this to cherish and remember the memories you have all the time.” The gift was a second basket and this time it had a different design and figure compared to the other one. What I found most important about this story is that no matter where you are, you always have to remember the bad and the good times you had throughout your life.
