Mexican Food Dish; Birria
This is an authentic Mexican plate that contains red rice, beans, and birria. This is my grandfather’s favorite dish; he brought the recipe with him from Guanajuato in the mid 70’s when he came to The Unites States for a better life. He has passed the recipe down to my mother who likes to make this dish on special occasions. My family was never rich and some meals that I remember eating a lot when I was younger are rice and beans, enchiladas, and quesadillas. I’m glad that my mom has kept her tradition and has shared a lot of family stories about Mexico. I love Mexican food and I like to cook; I want to learn this recipe and if I have kids, I want to pass this tradition on to them. Mexican food like birria to me represents the struggles and journey of my family and how they created a better life for themselves and an even better life for their children. I believe that this dish and what my family went through has made me more understanding and grateful for all that I have.
