Mexican flag
The Mexican flag isn’t just a flag, to me it means so much more, this to me means family, it’s where my parents are from, this country to them holds a lot of memories and means a lot. The eagle is a symbol of the sun and a representation of the victorious god Huitzilopochtli, in which form, according to legend, bowed to the arriving Aztecs. The green stripe was said to represent Mexico's independence from Spain. Green represents hope, white symbolizes purity and red stands for the blood of the heroes who fought for independence. In 2000, my mother and my father moved from Mexico to the United States. While I was interviewing my mom she said this, “I moved here to have a better life and a good future for you and your siblings…”. That was only one reason why she moved here. I also asked her “how was it like in Mexico”, she responded with “it was hard because there was barely any jobs and they paid little money”. Mexico is important to me because my family is there, I always get sad because I’ve never met my family and I’ve never met my grandpa. Something that my mom said during the interview when I asked "what was the neighborhood like?" which made me smile was, “It was nice, there was no crime, and everyone was friendly” I don’t know why but when she said that it made me smile because I know my mom was happy and cared a lot about where she came from.
