Mexican 1 Peso Bill
My object is a Mexican 1 peso bill from the year 1961. This was a bill that my grandfather gave to my father before he immigrated to America. Although my great grandfather didn’t want him to go, he gave it to him as a way to give my father luck because the journey to America was a very dangerous one. My father came to the United States in 2006 which would have made the bill 45 years old. My father was determined to go because it was very hard to earn money and take care of his family in Mexico. He knew that if he came to America he would be able to earn enough money to take care of his family from the United States. When he finally got to the United States he lost most of his things but managed to keep the bill. All these years later he still has it. The bill now is 62 years old and is hung up in our house. Whenever I see it I am reminded of the reason why I am here and I am reminded that the American dream is possible but it is not easy to achieve.
