Menorah

Religion
This is my great great grandmothers menorah. It was awarded to her in honor of her presidency of the sisterhood of her synagogue. (The Ladies Auxiliary Congregation: Tifereth Israel of Jackson Heights). The Menorah was awarded in 1937. It is important because women during this time had less of a role in jewish leadership, but this shows that they had their own areas of influence. We light this Menorah every year now in my house on Hannukah.
