Menorah

My object is a menorah. The menorah is blue and white porcelain. It has been used for many generations in our family. It comes from Russia and was made in the 1890’s. It was owned by my great, great, great, grandfather on my father’s side. This was a wedding gift to my ancestors many years ago from the rabbi who married them. When they came to the United States, they were so proud that it didn’t chip or break because they treasured it., We use it every Chanukah to celebrate the holiday. We have used this as long as I can remember. The menorah represents my Jewish religion. We don’t really practice religion but we celebrate the holidays like Chanukah and Passover.  When my dad was little he learned how to use it. Now he teaches me. We always light the candles from left to right , but they are placed in it from right to left. That took me a while to remember. My dad always starts the prayers and then my mom and I repeat after him.
