Mennonite Community Cookbook
My object is a copy of the Mennonite Community Cookbook owned by my great-grandmother(on my dad's side) . The writer was my great-grand father’s second cousin. It is from Pennsylvania I chose this object because for a long time my ancestors have been mennonite, and there are many things in this cookbook they would’ve eaten. The fact that many of the recipes are german shows that most of their ancestors came from Germany.
There are six chapters on deserts and sweets. This may sound surprising, but the reason for this is that old-fashioned Mennonitesdidn't use recipes for most foods , but they did use them for special things, like deserts.
One question I have for my family is : how much have the recipes changed from the original recipes in Germany? My family doesn't eat food from this cookbook, but we keep it because it belonged to my great- grandmother.
