Memaw's ring

This is my Memaw’s ring. I was told she wore it every day by both my grandma and mom, and it's very clear she did; the band is worn down, and it is slightly dirty. I got it from my inheritance, and I find this little ring important, because I can’t really remember my Memaw’s face, it's always a blur to me, same as her voice, and at this point this is the only thing that I personally have to remember her. Sadly, she passed when I was 5 years old, and my memory has deteriorated for anything before 10, memories merge together and faces are fuzzy. I feel guilty for forgetting her now, but I'm glad I get to have her close to me via an object that meant something to her. My Peepa got it for her, we think, 25 years ago, or so in Sturgis, South Dakota, possibly for a birthday, or an anniversary; he was always getting her gifts. My grandma said it was so important to my Memaw because it was a gift from her true love.
The ring's band is gold, and the stone is black onyx. It has two leaves expanded off the band that holds the onyx in place. I could not tell you why it looks like this, only my Memaw and Peepa can, but sadly, both have passed on now. But the ring is one of those things I have to remember her by. It's far too small to fit me, but I can put it on a necklace, and I will always have her with me every day I wear it.
