They are not actually bamboos. The amount of stalks represent different meanings. My parents brought them over from china wishing for happiness and wealth. The economy in china was not as good as America and they tend to make less. Thus they came to America hoping to earn more.  My dad used to be a painter but now he works at a supermarket due to his immigration status.
