Little Goat Herder
This is a Hummel figurine titled Little Goat Herder. It came from the Goebel company in Germany. The first model of this Hummel was created in 1948, while this one was made around 1950. A hummel is a porcelain figurine. This hummel is a young boy surrounded by a mother and baby goat. It was passed down from my great grandfather to my dad, and he intends to continue passing it down to the next generations. In our house it is used as a decoration, placed right over the fireplace. This object is important to my family because it reminds me of my family’s history and of where some of my family came from, Germany.
