La Santa Biblia (Holy bible)
When my family came from the Dominican Republic to the United States, one of the most important things we brought with us was our Bible. For us, it wasn’t just a book, it was a reminder of home, of our traditions, and of the faith that kept us moving forward. My mother carried it carefully in her bag, saying it would guide us no matter where we went. I remember how, in our first small apartment, the Bible sat on the table in the living room, as if it was watching over us. Whenever we felt lost or homesick, we opened its pages and read together, just like we did back in the Dominican Republic. For my family, the Bible was more than words; it was a symbol of hope, strength, and the belief that God would help us build a new life here.
