I chose the kurta because my uncle Marvin’s family is immigrants from India. The Kurta is worn as a traditional garment for things like weddings and celebrations. The reason I chose the Kurta is because when Marvin married my aunt, one of the things that I remember is how his whole family wore them during the celebration. Marvin’s family moved from India to Virginia when he was 10 in around 2005 to find a better life for their family. His dad was a farmer in India which was not a bad job but he wanted to have more opportunity to provide for his family in America. When Marvin grew up, he went to college to be a physical therapist, which is the job he is currently doing today.
