Kiddush Cup

This Kiddush Cup is important to my family and has been in my family for four generations. My great-great-grandma, who I sadly never was able to meet, gave this cup to my mother so she could keep it to not only use it at Jewish holidays but to always have her in her memories. This object came from Russia, where my great-great-grandma was from. This object connects to my culture because it is apart of my religion. We use the cup for every Jewish holiday. It is a brass holder, with little details on it, with a glass cup inside the holder. It is important to me because I am able to have a better understanding of my religion learning about the object and find out more about family who I have never met. Also, I feel more connected to family because of this one object. The cup symbolizes my religion and how far my family has come even through hard times. It has gone through many holidays and it is super important to my family that it continues to do that. I hope that one day I am able to pass this Kiddush Cup onto a new generation of my family.
