The object I chose is a jewelry box that my great grandmother gave to her daughter when she was 13 years old and then was passed to my mother when she was the same age. Then my mother gave it to me when I turned 13 too. My great grandmother carried that box with her after moving with her parents to New York from St. Kitts. A lot of her jewelry was lost over time due to how many times they moved around in New York but right before she passed away she got me a necklace that has a Z charm and told my mom to give it to me when I was thirteen with the jewelry box. Ever since I got this necklace I have tried to wear it as much as possible and keep it safe in its box so I can continue to pass it on like my great grandmother did. I wear it as an ode to her even though I never got to meet her.
