Jeans
I have worn these jeans for five years. I have worn them from Shanghai to Providence, and they have accompanied me to many places. The jeans are so worn that a lot of the original threading are starting to come off and holes are starting to appear in places, but I still wear them often. There are many signs of repair on them, some of which are the work of my mother and some of which are my own. I mended the crotch area and the side pocket and my mom mended the back pocket and the bottom of the jeans for me when I'm back home. Sewing and embroidery have always been a link between my memories of my mother and me, and they are also a family tradition that was passed down from my great-grandmother to my grandmother, to my mother, and then to me. Since I was a child, my mother and grandmother have made many of my clothes, including dolls. As a child, I always admired my mother and grandmother for their sewing skills, and now I continue this tradition. I feel that making and mending clothes is an important way for our family to preserve memories and show care. At the same time, the process of crafting is a way for us to create new memories.
