Jade Necklace from China

My grandma is from China and during one of her visits back to China, she brought back with her a jade necklace, one for me and one for my sister. The jade necklace, shown in the picture, is very important to me and the rest of my family because it reminds us of our Chinese culture and our traditions. This item is probably one of the most important things my grandma brought from China.
You would be surprised to know that jade stones aren’t just green.  They come in a lot of different colors just like the one in the picture:  Mine is white.   For the Chinese,  jade is important to them because they believe jade keeps them safe. It has been known that this stone can keep people safe because jade is supposed to ward off evil spirits. Sometimes even in hard times the Chinese people wear their jade pendants knowing that they would be safe from evil spirits, having good luck and knowing that they have a good culture.  My necklace is really important because it was given to me with a red string and this means that the string, being that it is the color red, is good luck in my culture.
Even though my mom doesn’t wear jade pendants often, I try to wear my jade necklace often so I would be reminded of my culture and where my family is from. Even though jade pendants are sometimes used for fashion, throughout the world,  I will always connect the jade to my Chinese culture and keep in mind its importance.
