Jacques Zucker
My object is a book by Jacques Zucker and has many paintings made by him over the years. At 13 years old, he went to Palenstine to study at an art school in Jerusalem. Four years later, he joined the British Royal Fusiliers and after that he studied more art in Paris. When he was 22 years old, he moved to the U.S. and studied art. His book has 135 of his paintings, which isn’t even all of them. Many paintings were of people and consisted of posing portraits to everyday life. Jacques Zucker was my grandfather's cousin and we have lots of his paintings on the walls of my house. He was jewish and believed that only making pictures of jewish people and nothing else was not how art should be made, but he still thought that jewish people’s creativity was going extremely well. He painted in post-impressionist style and his work is showcased in galleries and museums in New York, Paris, Tel Aviv, and more. This book is important to us because it shows all of his accomplishments and he has some extremely well made paintings in the book. Many of the paintings in the book we do not have, so it is very nice to be able to see nearly all of his paintings.
