I am pretty much your average white American girl. You know, 50% Irish, 25ish% Italian, a little bit of French and German, 2% Milk, all that. However, through this generic modge-podge of ethnicities, the Italian gift for cuisine in particular has shone through the generations. My Great Grandfather came to America as a young boy, and his parents--whose last name Tucci ("Tu-chi"), was Americanized to "Tu-see"--impressed on him the importance of preserving their traditions. Thus, John grew up around classic Italian Cuisine and his mother's talent for cooking has been passed down through my family. My grandfather, "Sonny", was brought up on traditional spaghetti, meats and cheeses from Italy, and of course, wine. As a lover of Italian foods, he was a quality chef who had the particular gift of just knowing how much of an ingredient was necessary in any recipe to make it delicious, a talent passed on to my mother, brother, and I. Our shared love of Italian cuisine and shared dislike of bland Irish flavors brings us together; we tend to find our happiest times together spent in the kitchen.
