Islamic Piece of Art
This is a special piece of Islamic art that hangs on the wall in my home. It came from Baku, a city in Azerbaijan. My family is from there, which means this artwork is important to me because of my religion, Islam.
The artwork is made of two big, shiny silver frames. The top frame has Arabic writing that says “Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,” which means “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.” The bottom frame has more Arabic words from the Quran, which is the holy book in Islam. The writing is in a fancy style called calligraphy, which is used to show respect for the words of God.
Even though no one in my family tree passed this onto us, we were the first generations from our tree to claim this art. My parents chose it, and we sometimes look at it and say the words together, especially before doing something important.
One memory I have is when I first learned how to say “Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.” I practiced it while standing in front of the artwork. My parents helped me, and I was really proud when I got it right.
This artwork shows people that I’m a Muslim and that my religion matters to me. It reminds me to be kind and to always think of Allah in everything I do.
This piece is important to me because it helps me feel close to my faith, even when I’m just at home. It makes me feel peaceful and reminds me to start things with a good heart.
