Independence day, November 11th (święto niepodległości)
My whole family had always been connected to a holiday święto Niepodległości. That was the only holiday that stands out the most. This holiday is like Independence Day for the Americans. My parents cared about this holiday more than any other holidays in the world. When I turned 6 years old, my parents taught me the traditions so I will grow knowing what I have to do on this day. Now I follow my parents’ traditions. If I lived in Poland it would also be the most important Holiday for me. Now, I am going to explain the origin or the beginning of this holiday in Poland. Święto Niepodległości is celebrated with a huge crowd (see the pictures). People and soldiers join together in Warsaw (capital of Poland). It is to show our gratitude to the soldiers for making sure we have the freedom to live in our country. We celebrate it because we had wars with Russia, Germany, Czech. We worked hard to get this freedom after 123 years. Poland is close to Russia, France, Germany, and Czech. We celebrate with fireworks, flags, concerts and parades but always by singing hymn. Many people (tourists) come see the wonderful celebrations and festivities of the holiday.
