Homemade Chili Sause
I grew up in Sichuan, a Chinese province notable for its spicy cuisine. Before I moved to New York City for college, mom told me that I would miss Sichuan food a lot in US. She then decided to make some chili sauce for me to bring to New York City. "It will help you to handle your homesickness," said my mom. The picture is my mom-made Sichuan-style chili sauce. There is said to be an unaccountable correlation between moon and hometown embedded in Chinese literary traditions. When I looked at this photo I took several months ago, I took this bowl of chili sauce as my moon. My red, spicy and tasty moon. Love you mom. Miss you a lot. -Rita Y. Fu
