My first year playing hockey was 2024-2025. I was clearly the new kid with no experience. I had all used gear, apart from my hockey stick. It was pretty hefty for a hockey stick, and it was made of wood. It was painted black with green accents and my pink stick tape. I didn’t know how to tape my stick or use any of my gear on my first day, which my friend had to help me out with. I used over half my roll of tape trying to figure it out. Fast forwarding to this season, 2025-2026, I play for two hockey teams now and have much more experience. I started out the season with the same hockey stick, still heavy and still has my pink tape, although I know how to tape it now. During a tournament, we went shopping, and there, sitting in the sports section, was the perfect stick. It’s purple and the holographic letters “Bauer” are written on the side. My mom turns to me with a knowing look, and says that if she buys me the stick, I will have less Christmas presents. I immediately agree. That was the best decision I ever made. I play better than ever now.
