Im/migrant who arrived as a child
This photo, taken in the 1960s, shows my great grandfather, Myer F. Wiles. The picture was used on the cover of Daily News. The article told the story of a snowstorm and how the city did not do a good job of removing the snow. This caused many people to be angry, as they could not safely get to work. As Commissioner of the Department of Public Works, my great grandfather decided that nothing could get in his way of going to work that day. Since taking a car was not an option, he walked over the Brooklyn Bridge to City Hall from his home in Brooklyn.
