The item I chose is this heart shaped pottery dish passed down from my grandma to my mom. My grandmother was known for her sense of style and unique collection of jewelry. Although I do not have tons of memories with my grandma, she was described as a strong woman who was always caring and kind. The flower inside the box is a carnation from her funeral in 2012. The carnation symbolizes love and devotion. There is also a pin of a dove and a pin of an angel because they both symbolize peace, love, freedom, and new beginnings. There is a gold necklace that was once my grandmothers that has two diamonds in the center. My Mom wears her jewelry for special occasions. My Mom likes to keep this pottery dish along with her jewelry collection, she says it reminds her of her Mom and is a part of my grandmothers legacy.
