When my family and I returned to the United States after living overseas for an extended period of time, my mother gave me her pair of purple beats headphones as she noticed my blue ones were degrading. My mother would later get new pair of ears buds for herself, but, I accepted her gift. Music has always been a significant part of my life and that of my family's for as long as I can remember. In my home, we have a tradition of playing Classic R & B versions of popular Christmas songs while decorating our Christmas tree. It's a fun way to celebrate the holidays and to bring us closer as a family. Over the years, listening to a variety of music has opened my eyes to different perspectives of the world around me while helping navigate it as well. I hope to one day pass on this tradition to the following generations of my family and beyond.
