Handmade Jewelry
My grandmother Diane was born and raised on a Native American reservation in Sampson County. She loved making anything artsy and used to make necklaces and bracelets to sell for money for food since jobs and money were scarce on her reservation. She made a variety of things such as dollhouses, dolls, jewelry, and other kinds of toys. When my mom and aunt were little, my grandma Diane would make them lots of jewelry for school that matched their outfits. And since then it became a tradition that continued for many years, from my mom and aunt, to me and my sister. They were not just accessories, they were memories made and cherished, and a skill passed down for generations and hopefully many more to come.
