Haitian Flag
Then Haitian Flag represent me in a lot of ways. A lot people believe that Haitians are dirty and they shouldn’t be here but when I meet people. I show how we aren’t dirty and why we should be in the United States. I feel like I represent Haiti and Haiti represents me. That connection makes me proud to be Haitian. Haiti also has a lot of history. Haiti was one of the first countries to get its independence. Jean-Jacques Dessalines, one of l'Overture's generals and himself a former slave, led the revolutionaries at the Battle of Vertieres on November 18, 1803 where the French forces were defeated. On January 1, 1804, Dessalines declared the nation independent and renamed it Haiti. My family has its own history. My great grandfather was a general in the Haitian army. That’s a very big accomplishment for anyone. The flag is made of a lot of things, such as rags, silk, cloth, and etc. They have different color for what their country stands for. The part of the world it comes from is Haiti.
