Guanajuato
Ever since I was a little girl I remember going each year to Guanajuato. This is where my parents and most of my family were born and raised. My parents came to the United States 30 years ago, leaving siblings, parents, aunts, uncles and so much more behind. They came to the United States to give us, their children, a better life than what they had. Growing up we heard sad, funny and beautiful stories that my parents would tell us about their lives in Guanajuato. Ever since I can remember up until high school, my mother, brother and I have tried to go every year to what I call and consider my second home, Guanajuato; now it is just my mother and I who go almost every year. My father and my sister do not go often; about three years ago it had been the first time my father went back to Guanajuato after more than 20 years that he had not gone and my sister has not gone back since she was a little girl. This is my second home; I have so many memories that I cherish. When I come here and see the beautiful view and reuniting with my family, I am reminded of how lucky I am to be able to visit my grandparents and other family members, and most importantly of the sacrifice my parents made. This picture, I took it as I arrived. It reminds me of my family members who unfortunately I cannot see everyday, the people I have met, the memories I have created, culture, and traditions of the rancho.
