When my grandmother was young, sitting down for tea was a daily routine. you had herbata (polish for tea) with family, friends and guests. Coffee was a rarity in the household. Growing up, my great great grandmother believed "There is no such ting as a teabag in my house". because of this, all the tea was looseleaf. When you sat down to have tea, you always had something with it, usually sandwiches or cakes.
